In the 19th century, the series of plates were used as tools of political propaganda (to the glory of the regime's army and the entire French nation). The war, the army and the lives of soldiers on the field of battle has been abundantly represented on the talking plates. On the earthenware an iconography of war, that of an official history which exalts the greatness of the army and depicts the leaders and soldiers as heroes.
