Albert I, Prince of Belgium, Duke of Saxony, Prince of Sax-Cobourg-Gotha and heir to the Belgian Crown 1905 was born in Brussels on April 8, 1875.
He becomes the third king of the Belgians on December 23, 1909.
He is the second son of Prince Philip, Count of Flanders and Princess Maria of Hohenzollem-Sigmaringen.
On October 2, 1900, he married in Munich Elisabeth, duchess in Bavaria.
He died in a climbing accident at Marche-les-dames on February 17, 1934.
Albert I carried the titles of Prince of Belgium, Duke of Saxony, Prince of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and after his accession to the throne in 1909, King of the Belgians.
After the first modal war (1914-1918) it bears no longer the titles Duke of Saxony and Prince of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, who were of German origin.
Albert I was a beloved king of the people for his closeness and kindness.
