val saint lambert

The Abbey of Val Saint Lambert was created in the early 13th century by Cistercian monks at the confluence of the brook of Villencourt and the Meuse. They observed the rule of Saint Benedict until the revolution, when they were hunted down and their property confiscated. The estate then belonged to Jean-François Deneef, the last mayor of Seraing in the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, until 1825. He installed a mechanical flax spinning machine that did not succeed. In 1825, the Val Saint-Lambert changed its owners with the intention of installing a crystal.
