From all styles from the Middle Ages to today, different techniques and materials have been used throughout history.
In Antiquity a mirror was made from a simple polished metal plate.
Glass was then used, associated with a metallic foil.
An amalgam composed in particular of tin and mercury was used for the realization of old mirrors, in particular for the trumeaux which overhung the chimneys in the XVIII th century.
It was in the XIXth century that the technique of tinning with silver was developed in France, making it possible to avoid the measure considered toxic.
