

Very nice 18th century Copenhagen polychrome porcelain bowl, terraced decoration enhanced with fine gold of garland and fleur-de-lys.
Marked in blue, numbered and gilded on reverse.
Very fine late 18th century piece, rare and in very good condition.
Copenhagen: The porcelain industry is said to have been introduced to Denmark by a Frenchman, “Fournier”, and the royal factory founded in Copenhagen by “Henrich Muller” initially employed workers from Saxony and Berlin.
From 1780 to 1802, the factory's activity was absorbed by the execution of the large “Flora Danica” service for Empress Cathérine of Russia, decorated with flowers and rare plants by painter Cristoph Bayer and borrowed from learned botanical works.
Mark: Three wavy lines adopted in 1775.
