Beautiful pre-dominantly green wall hanging, true to the manufacture.

Gobelins stitch, one of the oldest types of stitch, has been used on Jacquard looms since the mid-19th century.

Jacquard - late 19th/early 20th century.

Greenery appeared in Flanders, Brussels and Oudenaarde in the early 17th century.

Oudenaarde tapestries are characterized by greenery, landscapes and the color green.

A verdure or verdure tapestry means a hanging whose decoration is predominantly vegetal, possibly with fantastical or exotic animals in the background but no figures.

Verdures were woven in many workshops in Flanders, such as the town of Oudenaarde in Belgium, and are still very much in vogue today.

This tapestry has remained fresh in both color and form.

No restoration.

Good condition.
