Oudenaarde tapestries are characterised by greenery, landscapes and the colour green.
A verdure or verdure tapestry means a hanging whose decoration is mainly plant, possibly with fantastic or exotic animals in the background but no figures.
Verdures were woven in many workshops in Flanders, such as the town of Oudenaarde in Belgium, and are still very much in fashion today.
This tapestry has remained fresh in both colour and form.
