Clear crystal lined with ruby red. circa 1880
Bohemian crystal is a variety of lead oxide glass, transparent and clear like rock crystal.
It was in the 18th century that Bohemia made its mark in the history of the crystal industry, both for the creation of exceptional hand-crafted crystal and for the quality of its glassmakers.
Many of the latter immigrated to north-western Europe at this time, bringing their techniques and know-how with them.
